Preservation Houston is now accepting nominations for the 2017 Good Brick Awards for excellence in historic preservation. Residential, commercial and institutional projects all qualify for awards. Awards are also given for publications, recognition for craft specialists and design professionals, preservation-related programs or activities and outstanding service or leadership in historic preservation. To qualify for a Good Brick Award, preservation projects must be located within Harris County and must have been completed within the last five years. Full guidelines and the nomination form can be downloaded here; the deadline for entries is 3 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016. Anyone may submit a nomination. Nominating yourself will not affect your chances for receiving an award. In the case of building projects, the award recipient must be the property owner who carried out the project. Award recipients are selected by an independent jury of preservation and design professionals, community leaders and former Good Brick Award winners. A non-refundable $150 administrative fee is required with all nominations. For additional information, e-mail us or call (713) 510-3990. The 2016 Good Brick Awards will be presented at Preservation Houston’s Cornerstone Dinner on Friday, March 3, 2017. |
