An update: March 2020

Friends,

We hope you and your families are safe and healthy. In times like these, we learn to appreciate the value of continuity and the comforts of familiarity. Although our staff is working remotely, Preservation Houston is continuing its efforts to protect the historic buildings you care about and the neighborhoods that make Houston home. If you need to reach us, send an e-mail or leave us a message at (713) 510-3990.

If you are interested in protecting your historic home or building, now is a great time to start the process. As always, Preservation Houston will research, write and submit City of Houston landmark nominations at no charge. If you have any questions about landmark designations or the history of your property, please e-mail us or leave a voicemail.

Our government work continues. We are following the progress of the North Houston Highway Improvement Project and will send you any new details about the I-45 realignment. We are also monitoring City Council and the Houston Archeological and Historical Commission and will inform you of any developments regarding historic preservation.

We’ve been exchanging information and ideas with our colleagues around the country and are in the process of developing online programming to maintain an active and engaged local preservation community. Find us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram, where we're encouraging community members to share photos of architecture from their daily neighborhood walks.

Preservation Houston is on the job, and we will continue working to turn great history and great ideas into great places. Although social distancing is the order of the day, we look forward to the time when Houstonians will again fill those great places.

We are all facing significant challenges, but we look forward to a successful future. We greatly appreciate your continued support.
